ABSTRACT

The treatment of fracture always aims at reestablishing the full integrity of the injured area. Various methods and techniques may serve to reach this goal. Primary bone healing without the formation of callus will occur when a fracture has been reduced accurately and stablilized rapidly. The use of rigid metal plates to achieve primary bone healing has become a widly accepted procedure in maxillofacial surgery. This paper reports on the use of non-compression miniplate fixation in 15 facial bone fractures performed at Hanil General Hospital.

Keywords: Primary bone healingNon-compression miniplate.
