Streptomycin in Treatment of Ozena

ABSTRACT

The author has observed the result from intramuscular administration with topical application of streptomycin to 20 cases of ozena. 1) Of the 20 cases of ozena, male were 7 cases, female were 13 cases. The ratio between male and female was approximetly 1:2. 2) Age incidence of the cases were 14 to 30, That is most of the cases were in puberty and young adult. 3) In view of the effectiveness for the cases with treatment of streptomycin, 8 cases were excellent, 7 cases were effective and 5 cases were not effective. In the 75% of the cases, Streptomycin was effective. 4) The period of the treatment with Streptomycin was 7 days or 40 days, and most excellent result were obtained at 7 days or 20 days. 5) Side reaction was not experienced in all cases.
