Herpes zoster oticus is a disease associated with otalgia, vesicles, peripheral type of facial palsy, hearing impairment, tinnitus, vertigo and other nonspecific symptoms. Facial palsy is the most serious problem. Degeneration of the facial nerve tends to be severe in herpes zoster oticus than in Bell's palsy. The main conservative treatment is acyclovir, steroid hormone and vitamin.
