ABSTRACT |
In the past six years six intratemporal facial nerve neurilemmomas have been treated at the Otolaryngologic department of the Seoul National University Hospital. This tumor is relatively rare, and could be protean in their clinical manifestations with early facial weakness and accompanying audiovestibular symptoms. Most of these patients were diagnosed in advanced stage with wide involvement of the intratemporal and adjacent structures necessitating infratemporal fossa approach for complete removal of the tumors. Facial nerve dysfunctions were managed by greater auricular nerve graft, hypoglossal-facial anastomosis and facial sling operation. In this presentation case histories will be reviewed with update diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
