ABSTRACT |
The introduction of endolaryngeal microsurgery by Kleinsasser in 1965 made a more useful approach for laryngeal surgery and diagnosis with self rataining laryngoscope. A clinico-statistical analysis was performed on 102 cases of suspension laryngoscopic microsurgery in the department of ENT of Presbyterian Medical Center from March 1980 through December 1984. The results were as follows : 1) Sex distribution was male 1.2 : female 1. 2) Age distribution showed 30 cases (29.4%) in 4th decade, 23 cases (22.5%) in 5th decade. 3) The chief complaint of patients was hoarseness 92 cases (90.2%). 24 cases (23.5%) from 6 months to 1 year, 19 cases (18.6%) from 1 month to 3 months, 19 cases (18.6%) from 3 months to 6 months. 4) Distribution of Pathologic finding were as follows : Vocal polyp 74 cases (72.5%), Reinke's edema 8 cases (7.9%), Papilloma and cancer in order. 5) Distribution of involved sites wers as follows : Sigle 5.8 : both 1 and anterior 1/3 of vocal cord was 66 cases 79.5%). 6) Distribution of patient's occupations of polyps in Men were as follows : government employee (35.2%), teacher (22.2%), and commerce (18.5%) in order.
