ABSTRACT |
122 cases of laryngeal polyp and vocal nodule were analyzed clinically and histopathologically during the period of 1984 through 1989. The results obtained are as follow ; 1) A great number of polyp and nodule patients were seen among non voice abusers. 2) Diffuse vocal polyposis patients had history of prolonged voice abuse, misuse, smoking and long durating of symptoms. 3) Small edematous sessile mass on true vocal cord was hard to distinguish between polyp and nodule clinically, even though under microlaryngoscopic examination. 4) Histopathologically, epithelial layer of polyp and nodule showed hyperkeratosis, parakeratosis and acanthosis. In subepithelial layer, there were vascular change, edema, myxoid degeneration, fibrosis and hyaline degeneration etc. Microscopically, there was no significant difference between polyp and nudule.
