ABSTRACT |
An animal experiment to demonstrate organ specific hypersensitivity of experimental nasal mucosa was performed by repeated injection of allogeneic rabbit's nasal mucosa with Freund's adjuvant and the following results were obtained. 1) Pathologic findings of nasal mucosa revealed infiltration of inflammatory cells, hyperplasia of reserve cells, atrophy or loss of mucosal ciliae and mucous glands. 2) Skin showed gross loss of hairs and pathologic findings revealed infiltration of inflammatory cells, hyperkeratosis, papillomatosis and degeneration or fibrosis of collagen fibers. 3) Tissue reaction on supernant fluid and emulsion of precipitate of tissue antigen revealed almost same degree. 4) No specific lesions were noted in other organs and tissues examined. The results of this experiment suggest the possibility of nasal mucosal autoimmune disease of human. |
