The author analyzed history, signs, symptoms and pure tone audiometrical findings of 116 patients exposed to the acoustic trauma through the accidents such as explosion and falling in mines for 7 years from 1970 to 1979. The results obtained areas follows : 1) Most of the cases have worked between from 5 to 10 years in mines and younger than 40 years of age. 2) Most of the cases were transfered to Wonju Christian Hospital within one week after the accidents. 3) a) Chief complaints were hearing loss, otorrhea, otalgia, tinnitus and dizziness listed according to frequency. b) Perforation of the tympanic membrane were observed in 71.6% (83/116) which were unilateral and large perforations. 4) Mild and moderate degree of the hearing loss were frequent. Sensorineural hearing loss were shown in more than 1/2 of the cases and the audiometry showed descending, abrupt drop and dip forms. 5) Hearing gains resulted from medial and surgical therapy were revealed in the pure tone audiometry.
