Laryngotracheal stenosis is an uncommon, but it is one of the most troublesome diseases in the ENT field. The number of patients with laryngotracheal stenoses is increasing due to an increase in the chance of tracheostomy or prolonged orotracheal intubation caused by traffic accident. For more effective treatment of laryngotracheal stenosis, the authors analized 29 cases of laryngotracheal stenoses patients who have been managed in our department during the past five years. The results were as follows ; 1) In age and sex distribution, don't use the prononoun was fround most frequently in the group of patients in the third decade(31%), and more frequent in male than famale. 2) The causes of stenoses were : 11 cases(38%) from prolonged intubation, eight cases (27.6%) from direct trauma of neck, seven cases(24.2%) from tracheostomy and three cases(10.2%) from laryngeal surgery. 3) The sites of stenosis were : eight cases(27.6%) of trachea, eight cases(27.6%) of glottis and subglottis, six cases(21.6%) of subglottis, four cases(13.8%) of glottis and three cases(10.4%) of subglottis and trachea. 4) Conservative methods were used to manage five cases and surgical methods were used in 24 cases. Surgical methods included five cases of removal of granuloma with T-tube insertion, one case of reduction of arytenoid, two cases of arytenoidectomy with T-tube insertion, six cases of tracheal resection with end to end anastomosis and 11 cases of laryngoplasty with autogenous cartilage or bone graft.
