ABSTRACT

Leprosy is diagnosed by chronic granulomatous inflammation of the peripheral nerve in pathologic findings and is characterized by hypertrophy of the peripheral nerve. Hypertrophy of the nerve can be seen in the all types of the leprosy. It is found most commonly in the tuberculoid leprosy type. The ulnar nerve is most commonly involved and the great auricular nerve or the superficial peroneal nerve can be involved also. The skin lesion of leprosy may show a hypopigmented macule surrounded by normal skin. The involvement of the peripheral nerve without skin lesions is commonly presented in the tuberculoid leprosy type. Authors report one case of leprosy presented as a neck mass without skin lesions which is confused with neurogenic tumor.
