ABSTRACT |
Carotid body tumor is benign tumor arising in the paraganglionic tissue of the neural crest and most commonly in the elderly population. Diagnosis is made by carotid angiography or CT scan, and surgical removal is the best known method of treatment. However, in advanced cases heart and kidney complication due to the A-V shunt may interfere with the treatment. Recently the authors have experienced 2 cases of carotid body tumors and report briefly with literature.
