A Case of the Eosinophilic Granuloma of the Temporal Bone

ABSTRACT

Eosinophilic granuloma is characterized by osteolytic skeletal lesions which consist histopathologically of infiltrates of histiocyte, eosinophilic leukocytes and giant cells. The tumor affect usually long or flat bone, but uncommonly affect the temporal bone. Also, the prognosis of patients with unifocal eosinophilic granuloma in the temporal bone has been quite good. The eosinophilic granuloma in temporal bone has reported 2 case by ""Park"" et al in Korea. Recently, the authors experienced a case of eosinophilic granuloma of the temporal bone. The patient, 3 years old female child was admitted due to right purulent otorrhea and mastoid abscess. Then, it was treated as mastoidectomy and radiation therapy with good result. Now, we report the above case with literatures consideration.
