ABSTRACT |
A case of osteosarcoma in larynx in elderly man is presented. The patient complained of chronic hoarseness and aggravated airway obstruction after biopsy. He was treated by total laryngectomy and lived well 4 months later. Sarcoma of the larynx is rare, less than 1%, among the sarcoma arising from the larynx. Chondrosarcoma is the most common sarcoma in larynx. But osteosarcoma is very rare. In 1946, Clerf reported eight cases of laryngeal sarcoma including one case of osteoangiosarcoma but no microscopic findings were presented. Sprinkle(1966) reported the first acceptable case of laryngeal osteosarcoma, subsequently additional five cases were reported and one case was with only a brief summary. All case histories had similarity in clinical features. This is the 7th reported case with review of articles.
