ABSTRACT |
Rhinoliths are formed as the result of an intranasal foreign body which encrusted with mineral salts chiefly calcium and magnesium. These formations are rare in the nasal cavity. Recently, we have experienced a case of rhinolith in the left nasal cavity of a 52-year old female, which weighs 8.6gm, measuring 3×2×1cm. Under local anesthesia, removed by degloving technique for exposure of nasal cavities. We have analysed the componets of rhinolith, quantitatively and qualitatively. The rhinolith was composed of Calcium 31.85%, Phosphorus 15.90%, Sodium 0.74%, Silicon 0.11%. The other small components analysed by spectroscopy spectrum were composed of 18 elements.
