ABSTRACT

In W.H.O. classification of salivary gland tumors seperates adenomas into two major types : monomorphic and pleomorphic (mixed tumor). The monomorphic adenomas are further subdivided into three groups : (1) adenolymphoma, (2) oxyphilic adenoma or oncocytoma, and (3) other types. The other types of monomorphic adenomas is consisted of salivary duct, basal cell(trabeculartubular, solid, canalicular), clear cell, sebaceous lymphadenoma, mucus-producing adenoma. In monomorphic adenomas, trabecular-tubular type is the common type of the basal cell adenoma, composed of uniform structural small ducts and flattened myoepithelial cells surround a single layer of duct lining cells and clear cell adenoma is rare tumor, composed of small tubules surrounded by prominent clear cells. Recently, we had experienced a rare case of monomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland which is composed of tubular type of basal cells and clear cells. So we report this case with reivew of the literature.
