ABSTRACT

Caloric labyrinthine reaction with the change of head position was observed. By using air caloric irrigator, latencies, durations and maximum speed of slow component(MSSC) of nystagmus, induced by hot and cold stimulations, were recorded in the position of the horizontal semicircular canal(HSCC), being in vertical plane(neck flexion 30° in supine position) and being in horizontal plane(neck extension 60° in supine position). In the position being vertical plane of HSCC, there were shorter latencies, longer durations and increased MSSC than that being horizontal position of HSCC with either stimulation, but the difference of the results between two positions were not significant.
