ABSTRACT

Total laryngectomy is the popular method for the treatment of advanced laryngeal cancer. As the result of this procedure, patients were lost their own voice and phonation ability. With many difficulties, several methods have been developed for the rehabilitation of their phonation but the result was variable. Recently, we had experienced 3 cases of near-total laryngectomy, with myomucosal valved neoglottis, in laryngeal cancer patients. The results was good during 6-16 months follow-up, they could speak well with their neoglottis without difficulties and special training. Aspiration also have not seen in all 3 cases. So we report surgical procedure of near total laryngectomy with the review of literatures.
