ABSTRACT

Esophageal rupture is a rare disease and demands early diagnosis and immediate surgical repair if patient should be saved. In the unoperated cases, condition of the patient is invariably fatal. A twenty eight-year-old male patient visited our hospital, who was bluntly traumatized on the anterior neck side by traffic accident. There was visible rupture of the esophagus on the level of cervico-thoracic vertebra, but no visible fracture or other injury of the trachea and larynx. Treatment consists of surgical repair and supportive therapy. So, we report this rare case with review of the literature.
