ABSTRACT |
The neurilemmoma is a specific tumor derived from nerve sheath, first described by Verocay in 1908. They may occur at any nerve possessing a neurilemma. The 25% of total cases occur in the head and neck area. Acoustic neurilemmoma is the most frequently reported and there are several reports of neurilemmoma originating from tongue, pharynx and larynx. However, the neurilmmoma arising in the nasal cavity is extremely rare. The authors have recently experienced a case of neurilemmoma in the nasopharynx which removed by transpalatine approach under general anesthesia and verified histologically neurilemmoma.
