ABSTRACT |
Extramedullary plasmacytoma is one form of plasma cell neoplasms and this may arise in any structure containing reticuloendothelial tissue but majority of the cases are seen in the head and neck area with its abundant lymphatic tissue This tumor may be either isolated or initial lesion of a generalized disseminated condition and considered as part of a continuous spectrum of various plasma cell neoplasm. In a few patient with isolated plasmacytic tumor, multiple myeloma develops subsequently, others die from local invasion. Diagnosis is based on histological identification of the plasma tumor cell. Surgical excision and or radiotherapy is treatment modality in those patient with local disease. We have experienced a case of extramedullary plasmacytoma of the nasal cavity in 33 years old patient, which have been treated with surgical excision through partial maxillectomy and postoperative radiation. So we report this case with review of the literature.
