ABSTRACT

Laryngeal papilloma is one of the most benign tumors in larynx. Problems of this tumor are respiration difficulty, hoarseness and frequent recurrence in childrens and hoarseness, recurrence and rare malignant change in adult. So this is considered clinically one of the most troublesome diseases in otolaryngology. There are many opinions regarding to the etiology of this tumor, but so far unknown. So there is no satisfactory treatment method except repeated surgical removal. Recently the authors have a favorable result by periodic topical instillation of 0.3-0.4ml (3mg/ml) Bleomycin solution under indirect laryngoscope by 2-3 times per week on 3 cases of laryngeal papilloma patient after surgical removal. There is no evidence of recurrence or tumor growing and side effect during over 12 months after topical instillation.
