ABSTRACT |
Recently many studies and development of Allergology especially in Allergic Rhinitis have been carried out and clinically correct diagnosis is most important. Diagnostic procedures for Allergic rhinitis are detail history taking, anterior rhinoscopic examination and skin test for specific allergen extract but detail history taking is most important. The purpose of this study is to provide the guidance of diagnosis and treatment for Allergic Rhinitis. This paper presents a clinical study of 52 cases of Allergic Rhinitis, they were diagnosed as allergic rhinitis, at Allergy Clinic of Ewha Womans University from September, 1981 to February, 1983. The Results are as follow ; 1) Male to Female ratio is 1 : 1.3 and peak age incidence is in the age group 21 to 30 and 31 to 40. 2) Predominant symptoms are nasal obstruction, watery rhinorrhea and sneezing. 3) Seasonal predominance is not observed and in 65.4% the allergic symptoms sustain throughout the year. 4) Family history for other allergic diseases is 55.8% of allergic rhinitis. 5) The color of nasal mucosa is pale in 63.4%, normal in 32.8% and congestion in 3.8%. 6) Finding of PNS x-ray is normal in 65.7%. 7) Eosinophil in blood is 15.4% and serum Ig E level increases in 56.4%. 8) Positive response for Allergic skin test is 65.5%. 9) Common positive allergens are house dust mite in 55.7% and house dust in 44.2%.
