ABSTRACT |
Recently, there is increasing tendency of the extensive injury or defect of the deep soft tissue which was caused by traffic accident, radical surgery with or without radical neck dissection and tissue necrosis after radiation therapy. On this case, the myocutaneous flap is very much effective than classic thickness split skin graft or free skin graft. Myocutaneous flap is arterial flap or neurovascular flap and is possessed of muscle and skin, so that there are many advantages such as covering of defect, sustained
bulkiness of soft tissue, rotation of flap to any site-especially head and neck and good post-operation result. We expect to
further study and clinically using of myocutaneous flaps. Authors used sternocleidomastoid myocutaneous flap to radical and reconstructive surgery of buccal cancer with metastatic enlarged lymph node of left submandibular area on April 26, 1982 and that result was favourable and report this case with brief literature review.
