ABSTRACT

Esophageal carcinoma developing at the site of lye stricture is rare but there are about 58 cases of descriptions in the literature (Tucker, 1974). A 63 year old female patient was admitted with severe swallowing difficulty followed lye stricture of 40 years duration. Esophageal carcinoma was confirmed by biopsy which was taken at the site of stricture (distal one third of the esophagus). So we performed esophagectomy and esophagogastrostomy with good result.
