ABSTRACT

The author performed rhinoplasty using L-shaped Dimethylpolysiloxan (D.M.P.S) for 4 cases of the saddle nose. Two cases out of the 4 cases had wide nose due to previous trauma and lateral rhinotomy was also performed prior to the operation for the saddle nose. The D.M.P.S. was trimmed by Uchida's method and sterilized in 120°C autoclave for 30 minutes. Under the local anesthesia, bilateral marginal incision was made. The soft tissues over the major alar cartilage and the lateral nasal cartilage were elevated with Fomon's curved scissors and Converse's doubleedged knife. Periosteum of the nasal bone was elevated with Fomon's periosteotome. The prosthesis was inserted into the prepared bed and incision was closed with nylon sutures.
