Two Cases of Pharyngeal Syphilis

ABSTRACT

Pharynx is rare recognized tissue as a source of secondary syphilis. We experienced two cases of syphilitic patient which were affected secondary syphilitic lesion on palatine tonsil, tongue, and genital region. A 27-year-old female was referred to the Chonnam University Hospital on Nov. 4, 1971 with complaints of severe sore throat for one month duration. On physical examination, both palatine tonsils show moderate hypertrophy with hyperemia, superficial ulceration with greyish mucous patch and tongue revealed bean sized verrucoid skin lesion, black spots, and mons pubis revealed psoriasiform syphilid, flat papules. A 51-year-old male was entered to the our department of Nov. 12, 1971, with compaints of sore throat, papulomacular squamous skin eruption on scalp eruption on scalp, face, scrotum, and inner thigh for three months duration. Penis shaft revealed condyloma latum, sulcus coronaris show solitary chancre, and palatine tonsils show white-greyish mucous patch, and hyperemia. The cardiolipin flocculation test revealed strong positive rection. We treated with penicillin under the diagnosis of secondary syphilis followed by good result.
