ABSTRACT |
The patient, housewife of 57 years of age was admitted to Severance Hospital, Yonsei University School of Medicine, Seoul, Korea, on May 28, 1959, with distress of breathing due to insidious stuffiness of nasal cavities associating with bulging of the external nose and the surrounding regions. This condition was diagnosed as ""Rhinoscleroma"" both at the clinical and histopathological points of view. During her stay for four days she had been treated with local irradiation of 695 milligram hours of radium and with 2 grams of intramuscular use of streptomycin. After her discharge she had been treated for about two months with intramuscular injection of 22 grams of streptomycin, oral administration of 25 grams of potassium iodide preparation and local application of 2% oxytetracycline ointment, etc. The resultant effect was generally satisfactory because of its patency which gave rise to breathe more easily and because of the appearance of the nose.
