ABSTRACT |
The Fibro-osseous lesions of the head and neck comprise a challenging group of pathologic conditions that cause difficulty in classification and treatment. Fibrous dysplasia is usually considered to be of two varieties ; monostotic or polyostotic type. Involvement of the temporal bone is very rare and may include the external ear canal, where the disease primarily causes obstruction of the ear canal with recurrent infections and conductive hearing loss. Treatment is generally conservative, with canaloplasty as needed to control the symptoms. Recently authors experienced a case of fibrous dysplasia which involved the left temporal bone in a 17-year-old male.
