ABSTRACT

Teratomas of the nasopharynx are rare tumors of embryonic origin in neonates and infants. Although the majority are benign, these large sessile tumors may obstruct the nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal airway, producing neonatal asphyxia. The authors experienced a case of an infant who had severe upper airway obstruction and feeding difficulty in which a massive true teratoma arising from the nasopharynx was encountered.
